It’s week 4 and I am half way through my first ever One Room Challenge®!!!! This week I did not get to check off as many items from my ever growing to do list as I would’ve liked, however I am practicing being gentle with myself and reminding myself, slow progress is better than no progress!

What’s the One Room Challenge?
The One Room Challenge® (ORC) is an 8 week challenge for designers and DIYers alike to transform one room of their choosing into their wildest dreams. It’s not a competition but rather a support group for designers/DIYers to uplift and encourage one another. Click here to find out more!
Update
Here we are ORC Week 4! I was aiming to have the fireplace completed this week, but that didn’t quite happen… However! – progress has been made. The upper half of the fireplace has been completely sanded and primed. And we have also gone ahead and hung our TV! I am most excited about having that completed, so we can get some sense of how the room is going to feel and function now! I am completely loving it, so far.

In addition to the minor physical updates, I have finally found “the” area rug to pull my design together.

As you can see from the original mood board (on the left), the colour palette for the room is neutral and monotone, aside from the pop of seafoam green (one of my fav colours). Finding a rug to fit with my colour palette but also break up the monotony was driving me B-A-N-A-N-A-S! After much searching I finally found the rug.
The Ethelinde Oriental Area Rug from Wayfair (of course!) in the Cream color was made for my living room, I am convinced. I ordered a 6’7″ x 9′ size. I love that although it is still very neutral, it pulls in some subtle color to my palette with the browns and seafoam green in it without being too over powering.

After finding the area rug of my dreams, it inspired me to go back to my mood board and tweak it if you will. I came up with 2 versions, the only differences being the colour of one pillow and the ottoman that I would like to find to go under my console table. Let me know in the comments below if you guys like the option 1 (black pillow & black ottoman) or option 2 (cream pillow & cream ottoman).

For week 5, I am hoping to be able to complete the fireplace build, start my floating shelves, install my new baseboards (praying it’ll be easier than crown molding) and make a second attempt at crown molding before calling in a professional.
Overall I am feeling quite proud of how far I have come and looking forward to reveal day!
