Taking the leap… My First One Room Challenge

Hey there! If this is your first time here my name is Shandelle and I am head dreamer extraordinaire here at Shandelle’s House.

I am over the moon to announce that I will be taking the leap and participating in my first ever One Room Challenge® (ORC) for the Fall 2022 Edition!

So what is the The One Room Challenge®? It is an 8 week challenge for designers and DIYers alike to transform one room of their choosing into their wildest dreams. It’s not a competition but rather a support group for designers/DIYers to uplift and encourage one another. Click here to find out more!

What room?

The living room will be getting some TLC! It is one of the rooms that greets you when you first enter our home. We started by giving it a fresh coat of paint in Sherwin Williams Snowbound (mixed in Behr Paint). We also had four pot (canned) lights added as the room did not have any permanent light fixtures.

Plans

Here’s the inspiration/mood for the room as of right now, I am known to tweak and add things up to the last minute and even after “completion”.

The goal: a beautiful, welcoming, comfortable place to watch TV and entertain.

To achieve the goal we will be taking the following steps.

• Frame fireplace
• Drywall fireplace
• Install Electrical Fireplace
• Build Floating Shelves
• Tile fireplace surround
• Extend crown molding around fireplace
• Replace baseboards
• Decorate, decorate!
