Hello there,
I moved into my new home a little over 7 months ago. It has been hectic getting settled in, unpacking and adjusting to my new surroundings. Add juggling three kids and a full time job to the mix. So needless to say I am not completely done decorating my house, but here goes an update nonetheless.
The pictures on at the top of this post show the original mood board (on the left) vs the mood board that I am leaning towards (on the right).
Let’s go over the changes…
1st the sofa:
I purchased the sofa in my original mood board from Structube, the Margot. The coach was exactly as pictured just the quality was not great to say the least and started getting fluff in certain areas after just 3 days. Needless to say it was not a fit for my home as I have three little ones at home. I contacted Structube to return it, that was a hassle in it’s own right but I won’t get into that.
I then purchased a second couch from wayfair.ca, the Sanders Sectional. I am not in love with it but it will have to do as the boyfriend is not entertaining us buying another one. It’s pretty however it’s not super comfortable and the back is very low. To be honest my goal was not exactly comfort as I did not think we would be using this area as much as we are.
2 Lessons learned here:
Live in the space before purchasing a sofa/couch
If you are indecisive like myself, do not order sofa’s online
2nd the fireplace:
Honestly the fireplace was a want but not something that was ever in scope financially, it does not make sense for us. It’s a starter home and relatively small so doing an upgrade like that would not really add value as much as adding stone countertops would. So I let the idea of a fireplace go and replaced it instead with a rustic yet modern TV stand.
Thankfully the TV stand was a hit, it was also purchased from Wayfair. It works perfectly in our space and gives the space a bit of a rustic touch.
Lastly, the other change is the addition of the Ikea Vittsjo shelf that I plan on spray painting gold.
Moving on the the things that remained the same…
The little decor items I have not got around to purchasing yet but will most likely be similar if not the exact ones in the board.
I purchased the exact carpet and side chairs in the mood boards and I am happy with them. I purchased both online also from Wayfair as well (see a trend here? By the I am not sponsored by Wayfair). Thankfully they both were exactly as pictured and work well in our space. I will say the side chairs are not the most comfortable things ever, but I will live with them.
That’s my update. I still have much to do to get the space where I want it, namely painting. Once it is painted I will take some pictures to post.
Until next time. Thanks for reading,
Shandelle
